The Iveco – Oto Melara Consortium, CIO for short, was established in 1985 as a merger of equals between Iveco Defence Vehicles and the former Oto Melara company, now Leonardo.
In the Consortium:
Iveco Defence Vehicles is responsible for engines, driveline and all the automotive components, in addition to the hull and the final integration of wheeled armoured vehicles.
Leonardo is responsible for weapon systems, aim and fire control systems for both wheeled and tracked vehicles, in addition to the final integration of tracked armoured vehicles. Both companies have outstanding experience in protection against direct fire, mines and IEDs.
